On Sep. 5th 2013, the roll of 2012 Shanghai Top 100 private sci-tech enterprises was announced during the award ceremony. Fosun Pharma stood out from over 20, 000 candidates and was selected one of Top 100 enterprises; besides, it also won another four prizes, namely Top 100 Enterprises with Strongest Comprehensive Strength, Top 100 Excellent Taxpayers, Top 100 Enterprises with Strongest R&D Ability, and Top 100 Enterprises with Greatest Growth Potentials.

The award of Top 100 private sci-tech enterprises was chosen based on the data of Shanghai private science and technology statistics and estimated from four aspects as the enterprise’s Comprehensive Strength, Growth Speed, Scientific Research & Innovation Abilities and Annual Tax-paying Contributions; after selecting 600 candidate enterprises from 24266 private technology enterprises, 391 enterprises were finally fixed through means of voluntary disclosure, approval by the district (county) science and technology committee, and double recommendation; they are Top 100 Enterprises with Strongest Comprehensive Strength, Top 100 Excellent Taxpayers, Top 100 Enterprises with Strongest R&D Ability, and Top 91 Enterprises with Greatest Growth Potentials. The Report on the Development of Shanghai Private Sci-Tech Enterprises 2012 was released the same term during the ceremony. According to the report, sci-tech enterprises, as the main force of the city’s science and technology innovation, have gained rapid increase in scientific and technical achievements and created considerable economic returns. According to statistics, the 24226 private sci-tech enterprises that completed the annual reports have achieved total sales of 1230.778 billion Yuan, including profits of 87.865 billion Yuan and tax payment of 66.004 billion Yuan; they also have got 21858 patents, including 5967 invention patents; the number of invention patent licensing with sci-tech enterprises is more than half of the city's patents, with obvious innovation driven results.

As the backbone of private economy, private sci-tech enterprises are not only important parts of economic growth, but also the new dynamics to promote independent innovation abilities. Over the recent years, the city’s science and technology committee has been continuously deepening technology service, innovating technical policy training modes, enhancing entrepreneurship carrier construction, and making in-depth private sci-tech enterprises statistics, to lead enterprises to improve innovation management abilities, and accelerate enterprises’ scientific and technical innovation abilities. It is learned that as a branded campaign, the award of Top 100 private sci-tech enterprises is going to be continued every year, to provide a good platform for scientific and technical enterprises in Shanghai to show their strengths and to exchange information; it could also help enterprises to find their own position in the industry development, to realize the gaps, so as to put forward measures to the point, and promote the development of innovative & entrepreneurial S&M ventures through rational planning.
